Security agencies have arrested the prime suspects in the kidnap and subsequent murder of Maria Nagirinya, a social worker.
Nagirinya, an employee of a local NGO was kidnapped and murdered together with her driver Ronald Kitayimbwa by unknown people while accessing the gate of her rented residence in Busega in the outskirts of Kampala.
The kidnappers dumped the bodies in a swamp in Mukono.
Police later released CCTV footage showing a man wearing a white shirt, a red coat and a cap on his head driving the victim’s vehicle, a Toyota Spacio, registration number UBA570V.
After a week, the police now say they have arrested three people among them, the man captured on CCTV driving Nagirinya’s vehicle.
According to Fred Enanga, the Police Spokesperson the arrest of the three suspects followed an intelligence led operation on a hideout in Natete. He says the suspects arrested in a joint police and military operation includes the man captured on the CCTV camera while driving the late;s car.
